Constitutional Amendment Types | Indian Constitution

The power to amendment the constitution rests in Parliament (Article 368) Bill can be initiated only in either house of parliament and not in state legislature. The constitution can be amended in three ways: 1. Amendment by simple majority of the parliament - an easy method of amendment by passing as a law in the normal way. Formation of new States and alteration of areas, boundaries or names of existing States, Citizenship etc 2. Amendment by special majority of the parliament - more than 50% of the total membership of each House and a majority of two-thirds of the members of each House present and voting. Domestic Violence Act | Indian Constitution
