Act 2005 It is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to protect women from domestic violence. “child” means any person below the age of 18 Victim can approach the ‘Protection Officer’ or the ‘Service Provider’ or the police or a Magistrate directly. Officer appointed by the State Government - Protection Officer Aggrieved person/Protection Officer/Any other person on behalf of the aggrieved person may file an application to the magistrate The Court of judicial Magistrate of the First Class or the Metropolitan Magistrate shall be the competent court to grant a protection order and other orders under this Act.  Came into force from 2006  October 26.
