The idea of single citizenship is borrowed from Britain Part II, Article 5 to 11 Parliament passed the citizenship Act in 1955. A person can acquire Indian Citizenship by 5 ways :By Birth, By Descent ,By Registration ,By Naturalization ,By Incorporation of Territory One can lose Citizenship by Renunciation ,Termination ,Deprivation Persons who are resident in India for 7 years can apply for Indian Citizenship by registration.
