Constituent Assembly

The Constitution of India is the supreme law of India An idea for a Constituent Assembly of India was proposed by M. N. Roy Indian National Congress in 1935 demanded for a Constituent Assembly The British Government  accepted the demand for a Constituent Assembly in Linlithgow August offer of 1940 Founded on 6 December 1946 , implemented under Cabinet Mission Plan Initially there were 389 members. After partition of India there were 299 members , including 15 women members. The Constituent Assembly met for the first time in 9th December 1946 (before partition of India). Dr Sachchidananda Sinha was the first chairman (temporary) of Constituent Assembly. 11 December 1946   Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the president. B. N.
